Cypress Kiwanis is proud to announce our FIRST Adult Public Service Award Recipient, Mr. Ross Flood, for his work as an Assistant Principal in Cy Fair ISD. Mr. Flood chose Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue as the inaugural recipient for the Cypress Kiwanis donation.


NOMINATION FORM

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. Nominee is at least 18 years old.
  2. Nominee currently resides or works in Cypress, Texas or adjacent community.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The emphasis for award selection is on impactful and meaningful service that fosters community well-being in Cypress, Texas, either in the capacity of volunteer work or for paid employees for outstanding achievement that benefits the community.

The four primary selection criteria include:

  • Leadership: An individual who significantly enhances unity and purpose within their community. The nominee should demonstrate a proven ability to foster community strength through initiatives promoting personal growth and development.
  • Social Responsibility: An individual who actively contributes to community improvement through volunteerism, social initiatives, outreach programs, sports programs, or educational activities. The nominee should have led or participated in at least one community project with
    measurable impacts on its participants.
  • Mentorship: An individual who exemplifies positive values and behaviors, inspiring others to emulate them. The nominee should provide instances of effectively mentoring community members in a constructive manner.
  • Change Agent: An individual who motivates and empowers others to achieve positive transformations through personal development and self-improvement efforts. The nominee should demonstrate a track record of influencing meaningful change within their community.

Nominations should discuss the following aspects of the applicant’s community service:

  • Contributions to strengthening the community through, preferably, volunteer service (describe the activity, history of applicant’s community activities, major accomplishments);
  • Special leadership qualities (ability to inspire and encourage others);
  • Ability to achieve outcomes (such as problems solved, numbers of people reached, measurable change, dollars saved or raised); and
  • Any extraordinary effort made by the nominee, and any challenges or obstacles that were overcome in making these contributions.

NOMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

Members of the Cypress, Texas Kiwanis Club are invited to nominate qualified candidates, using the Adult Public Service Award Nomination Form and the selection committee makes final selection of up to one awardee per month.

RECOGNITION

The awardee will be recognized at a Cypress, Texas Kiwanis Club meeting. Kiwanis may choose to cover the cost of their personal entree and beverage at the meeting, and the recipient will be provided the opportunity to designate a Kiwanis check of $100 to a favorite charity.

TIMELINE

Nominations submitted by the last day of the month will be considered at the following meeting of the public service award committee for awards the following month (i.e. nominations submitted by April 27th, 2025 will be considered in May and awarded in June).
